Alkali Scientific Cetrimide Agar/Mannitol Salt Biplate Plate, 10/Pk
Cetrimide Agar / Mannitol Salt Agar Biplate is a dual medium plate designed for simultaneous screening of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The divided plate format allows two selective media to be used within a single petri dish, increasing efficiency during microbiological testing. The Cetrimide Agar section selectively isolates Pseudomonas aeruginosa through the inhibitory action of cetrimide and promotes production of characteristic pigments such as pyocyanin and pyoverdin. The Mannitol Salt Agar section contains high sodium chloride levels that select for staphylococci while differentiating organisms based on mannitol fermentation. Staphylococcus aureus typically produces yellow colonies due to acid formation. This biplate system allows laboratories to screen samples for both organisms simultaneously while conserving incubator space and materials.

The Back-Pressure Regulator (BPR) is an optional attachment that applies pressure to the Enzymate digestion column. It is installed downstream of the column, specifically at the bulkhead fitting for the waste line. The blue knob on the BPR allows for manual adjustment of the back pressure. Pressure readings can be monitored in the console via the auxiliary solvent manager (ASM).

Baird Parker Agar with Egg Yolk Tellurite is a selective and differential medium used for the detection and enumeration of coagulase positive staphylococci, particularly Staphylococcus aureus, from food, cosmetic, and clinical samples. Each sterile plate contains 20 mL of nutrient agar enriched with sodium pyruvate and glycine to promote staphylococcal growth. Selective agents such as lithium chloride and potassium tellurite inhibit competing microorganisms while allowing target bacteria to develop. The egg yolk emulsion enables detection of lecithinase activity, producing a clear halo around colonies. Staphylococcus aureus reduces tellurite to form characteristic grey to black colonies surrounded by this halo, creating a distinctive morphology that allows rapid visual identification and differentiation from other staphylococci or background flora during routine microbiological analysis.
Alkali Scientific Cetrimide Agar 10mL 60 x 15 mm Filter Plate, 10/Pk
Cetrimide Agar is a selective and differential medium formulated for the isolation and presumptive identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Each 60 × 15 mm filter plate contains 10 mL of agar designed to accommodate membrane filtration methods used in water and beverage microbiology testing. The medium contains cetrimide, a quaternary ammonium compound that inhibits many gram positive bacteria and competing gram negative organisms. Magnesium chloride and potassium sulfate stimulate production of characteristic pigments including pyocyanin and pyoverdin. Colonies of Pseudomonas aeruginosa typically appear blue green and may exhibit fluorescence under UV light. These distinctive characteristics allow microbiologists to rapidly detect and confirm the presence of this organism in environmental, pharmaceutical, and water quality samples.
